I have not been to hkg fr a 3-4 years, so any tips will be appreciated. I am interested in checking out the gay scene, the saunas, the massage, the gay clubs etc, i think u get my point any handy tips and recommendations? cos i know sometimes those online guides can be outdated. will be good to hear any firsthand experience esp for shenzhen. never been there tho. any info will be greatly appreciated thanks.feel free to reply or PM me. There are also "guesthouse" type accommodation in tsim Sha Tsui, Jordon, Ya Ma Tei etc. Just look out for their signs outside the buildings as you walk along Nathan Road. All these are or are near tourist belts so you can do your shopping there as well.Which hotel? Ask your company's travel agent to recommend when you book your air ticket. I am not aware of any gay hotel other than saunas that open 24 hours. YMCA Tsim Sha Tsui has harbour view rooms, and since it is YMCA, I think the rates may be cheaper than other 5 star hotels. What food you should not miss? For dim sum, try some of the larger restaurants which will ensure freshness because of high turnover. Economical food for local people are available at kopi tiam equivalent known as cha chang tang. Noodles and porridge are usually available and some outlets also have roast goose and chay siew rice. Desert, try ginger juice on frozen milk. Last MTR trains usually by midnight, altho if I am not mistaken, Fri, Sat and Eve of public hols, they extend by half hour.Buy the octopus card after clearing customs at airport. Can get deal for MTR + train ride to city. Check out the combos.. 3 days or 1 week etc. U can use the octopus card for trains and buses, etc. They were the predecessor of our cash card in Sg.Taxis in HK do not hv midnight surcharge, so no worries. Can I just go alone by myself ?Yes, no problem going over on your own. There's ferries going over from Central or SheungWan very frequently throughout the day. I believe you need to bring passport if you are not HKer. Take the free shuttle buses at the ferry terminal to the various big casinos. From there take a taxi to wherever you want.If u do a day trip, start with the usual tourist sites eg St Paul's Ruins,Fortress, walk down the older & colorful part of Macau, buy the famous almond cookies from the old baker shops. Then grab a cab to go to Taipa Village to see the Taipa Houses Museum, and the old Portuguese area.. the portuguese restaurants mostly open only in the evenings, but you can get very good grilled sardines at some of the cafes for snacks or high tea. Get a map first (online or from your hotel) to chart your walking tour. Coloane is quaint too, but you may be packing too much in one day.Return to hit at least one of the big casinos like The Venetian (replica of LVegas) or MGM Grand or Wynn's. The Casino Strip is quite colorful and glitzy at night. Plenty of good cantonese restaurants around too eg. the one on ground level in the building just directly behind Crown, or the coffeehouse inside Crown Casino serves excellent HK food too. Sorry can't remember names of the restaurants I went to, but they were v good.As the exchange rate difference is minimal in favor of the Macanese dollar, the locals are quite happy to accept HKD.. so no need to change any local money. Shops here are mid to high to luxury range. LV, Prada, Feragamo, Brooks Brothers, Hilfiger, RL, etc, etc, etc, are all here. If that is not enough, DFS, Armani, H&M, Dior, etc, etc , etc, are across the road. If you intend to visit the luxury shops, be prepare to Q with long lines of Mandarin speaking fans of luxury products who are already covered from head to toe in familiar brands and who will pay for their purchases and puchases and purchases in hard cash.Tsim Sha Tsui MRT is 5 minutes walk away (ask the hotel concierge for directions). Along the way, you will find other more affordable buys in the like of Bossini, Giodano, Esprit Outlet, Adidas, HMV, etc, etc, etc. Try the local brand G.O.D. (Goods Of Desire) in Silvercord shopping centre for perculiar HK design fashion. If you like Japanese stuff, large stores of Uniqlo and 无印良品 are at Mirama Shopping Centre, also walking distance away. Young trendy fashions are available at shops under I.T. Group. They carry different brands (Bathing Ape, Fred Perry, etc. ) and can be found at B1 or B2 of Silvercord Shopping Centre. Oh, you will also find Toast Box and Food Republic at Silvercord. Give them a miss.Macau Cha Chang Tang (kopi tiam) is in one of the side road opposite Ocean Terminal. Try their ice coffee. Tang Dynasty, also opposite Ocean Terminal, serve HK style food (noodles, porridge, some dim sum, etc). If you must have western food, Hard Rock Cafe, Dan Ryans, etc, etc, are all in the vicinity.Wally Matt bar is walking distance and so is Galaxy sauna.
