[Bw 2011 Changes] Overview - Pls Read This First

With the 2011 year coming to a wrap, plus our recent losing of Google ad revenue, it was the right time for the mods to gather, evaluate and redefine BW forum’s future direction.

For the loyalists that had been with us since the BW the man days, I am sure you had seen the changes and, hopefully, improvement done on the forum. Technically wise, I would believe we are on par with many commercially run forums, and we did it with heart and dedications, considering BW is a non-commercial forum moderated by volunteers.

Leaving technology aside, it is evident that our readers' demographic had changed over the years as well. What started as simply readers' comments on BW the man’s blog, slowly moved to a free forum hosting sites due to the increasing volume of traffic to today's professionally run dedicated server forum site. Over the years, our readership has increased tremendously as well, and we are proud to be one of the top Internet site in Singapore.

With the influx of new readers, the demographic has also seen its changes. What used to be read by older mature readers has welcome our newer generations of younger readers. While some argued that the younger generation diluted the “mature” image of BW, it is undeniable that they brought in a layer of fresh vibrant energy. Not to mention, as our mod Lunker had said during our mods meeting, that we have a certain duty to guide the younger generation as they learn to accept and accustom to their identity, a luxury I would boldly said lacking during our generation growing up times.

We understand that not everyone like changes, and not all will agree with the changes made, but we seek your understanding to the rationality behind the changes.
