If you have to go to a place, I would recommend 九份. It was featured in the movie 悲情城市, Starring Tony Leung (梁朝偉). Lots of HK tour groups there. Granite steps with many nice and interesting buildings. Lots of things to eat and see. Good view of the port below. It is accessible only by Bus from the train station at 瑞芳.

五份埔 (Wu Fen Pu) - Mainly sells clothing. It is a place where they sells clothings

西門町 (Xi Men Ding) - Trendy place for youngster.

小熊村 and many pubs just outside 紅樓 (outside 西門町 MRT) is a hot place for AJ for drinks and food. Popular gathering place at night.

For those Techies who like games and computer stuff, 光華商場 has moved, the new building will be ready by 2008. In the mean time, rolls of temporary buildings around the same location.

Jogoya Japanese Buffet Restaurant (上閤屋).

士林夜市 (Shilin Night Market) - Lot of Taiwanese finger food. (小吃).

阿桐阿寶's 四神湯(pig's intestine) @ 民生西和承德路二段 is the best soup in town.

(Near to Office Sauna) (02 2557 2280) from 11:30pm to 5am

小李子清粥小菜’ｓmidnight supper @ 台北市復興南路二 (02 27092849) from 5pm to 6am.

滷肉飯is nice in many of the food outlet.
