BW Chat

Our very own Facebook-style chat. Chat was introduced on 1 June 2012 to allow members to have real-time conversation online. BW Chat quickly became a popular feature among members in the forum.

Additional information:

1. Member-only feature.
2. BW Chat is unique from the 'Messenger' function of the forum. BW Chat is meant for real-time chatting.
3. Chat logs are cleared daily.
4. If you wish for a more persistent messaging function please use the Forum Messenger.

1. How to Hide/ Show Chat Bar

1. Look for the Chat Bar located at the bottom of the screen.

2. Next, click on the "toggle button" to hide/ show chat.

OR if you wish to go OFFLINE without closing the chat bar...

1. Click on the "Chat ()" button.

2. Untick "Available to Chat" to go in offline mode.

2. How to Start a Chat

1. Click on the "Chat()" button.

2. Next, click on the member you want to chat with.
3. Locate the member window on the left of the "Chat()" button.
4. Starting typing and hit 'Enter' to send a message.

3. BW Chatroom

Chat room was added along with 1-to-1 chat to allow members to chat with one another simultaneously. Members are automatically invited into the 'BW Chatroom.'

To start chatting...
1. Click on the "Chatroom" button.

2. If you are not inside the chatroom, click on the chatroom link to enter it.

Chatroom Options

1. To leave the chatroom, click on the "Door" icon.
2. Next, click on the "Gear" icon beside it to view more options. e.g. chatroom sound.

4. Sending a File

Members are allowed to transfer files to one another using this feature. Personal photos can also be sent across.

Note: Please only accept files from members you trust at your own risk.

1. Click on the "Chat ()" button.
2. Click on the member you wish to send files to.
3. Click on the "Gear" icon.
4. Click on the option to "Send a File."
5. Browse for the file on your computer and click OK.

To receive a file sent by a member:
1. After the file has been sent by the member.
2. Click on the 'Download file' link to save the file to your computer.

5. Starting a Video Call


1. Click on the "Chat ()" button.
2. Click on the member you wish to start a video call.
3. Click on the "Gear" icon.
4. Click on "Start a Video Call"

Additional Information:

1. Please make sure your popup blocker is NOT blocking Blowing Wind.
2. You need to have a webcam and/or a microphone installed and functioning correctly on your computer in order to make a video call.
3. The troubleshooting of the above is beyond the scope of this FAQ.




6. BW Chat on Mobile

BW Chat is also available on your touchscreen smartphone. Currently only 1-to-1 chat is supported.


To access chat on mobile:

1. Visit http://mchat.blowingwind.org on your smartphone to chat.

2. Users on larger-screen devices can choose to visit http://chat.blowingwind.org and http://chatroom.blowingwind.org to chat directly (log-in first.)

4. Popout Chat. Use this icon to 'popout' chat to a new window. You can also popout chatroom this way via the chatroom options.

5. Closet icon. Provides a shortcut link to http://www.blowingwind.org/closet.html.

 

Removes the word 'Gay' from the title bar.

hey there

 

i got the same problem as #7

 

on toppa that, i got logged out of BW forum sporadically.

 

have to sign in multiple times before i got lucky n logged in.

 

i can't post as my user 'cause i just got logged out automatically again (tried for 8 times in a row)

 

could you advise me on how to solve this?

Hey,

 

thanks for replying fast.

 

I did as instructed, but I still couldn't access the chat.

 

I could login so long as I don't do it on the homepage so login isn't a big problem here.

 

My access to chat is denied whether I'm signed in or not.
