Trevvy and Fridae are dead for different reasons.

Fridae died not so much because of the conflict between Stuart and the board of directors, but because personals became passe, with the rise of smartphone apps like Grindr, Scruff etc. Personals became redundant.

Trevvy had a makeover which really killed its forum participation with an un-user friendly layout.

BW is thriving because of the relative freedom and the allowing of guest posting.

Yup I actually ditched Trevvy for BW. I'm so bored with the rigid and static layout there. PM feature is also hard to use. But here, it's so dynamic, you can see the real-time updates and status updates, so on.

I think the revamp killed Trevvy. They made it so unfriendly and also required paying subscription to enjoy the features which is crazy considering that Facebook, Grindr, Scruffd, PlanetRomeo, BlowingWind and Axcest are all offering it for free.

In my personal opinion, in an attempt to become more commercial, they killed their traffic which is the life force of any website. Now none of my frens go to Trevvy anymore.

what annoys me massively is that on my 24 inch widescreen monitor, trevvy still insists on sticking to what almost seems to be an 800x600 friendly format... it makes reading & navigating hard and cumbersome.

also, as is the case with fridae, browsing profiles takes so darn many clicks, why? on mobile apps i can just flick thru?

worse is sending & receiving pm's. having them delivered by pidgeons is quicker.

so in both cases friday & trevvy I would say, seems they missed the boat to Web 2.0....

The main reason I stopped going to Trevvy forum is because utterly every thread is a bitchfest, between the same people. The moderators on and off tried to control it, but eventually either surrendered or joined the flaming. For me it ceased to be a gay forum and became some sort of personal bouting rink.

Totally agree with you. There's also that jetguyz as well. All bitching from one thread to another! And those moderators, most mingle freely with the members till they even help to censor comments that are unflattering about themselves or their friendship. They've lost their objectivity! I can only say they brought about their own downfall!! However, if BW doesn't keep those bitching (which seemed to be increasing) in check. There is a possibility that it may follow suit.
